Arcade Fire release two teaser tracks

Arcade Fire release two teaser tracks

Arguably one of the most predominantly powerful bands that really got Montréal music out to the rest of the nation, Arcade Fire recently baited fans with two songs from their upcoming The Suburbs. Being released by Merge Records on August 3, this is the rock collective’s third full-length offering.

Hosted by Soundcloud, you can listen to the following track by following the links below:

“Ready to Start” here

“We Used to Wait” here

This band has been making some pretty epic albums so far. In 2008 they won two awards, a Juno for Alternative Album of the Year and the Meteors Best International Album award for Neon Bible.

Lady Gaga + Ace of Base Mashup = same song.

I’m so glad someone made a mash up of this. It’s uncanny!

It’s very clear that “Don’t Turn Around” and “Alejandro” are the same song. At least, the same pop formula.

Thanks to jproc911 for making this, it’s perfect.

Broken Social Scene release trailer for “This Movie is Broken”

Broken Social Scene release trailer for “This Movie is Broken”

It’s the best marriage of indie Canadian music and indie Canadian cinema, bridged together by the baroque-rock gods Broken Social Scene.

Starring members from the band, as well as that really annoying guy from the cell phone commercials (I loathe that group of friends), this part-scripted, concert-style film looks pretty intriguing.

For a musical collective that’s been reinventing and defining the Canadian music scene for nearly a decade, let’s hope this movie stakes a firm ground at the helm of epic love stories.

Aphex Twin reveals new untitled track!

Aphex Twin reveals new untitled track!

Booya! Just read in Exclaim! that electronic genius/madman/misanthrope Aphex Twin (a.k.a. Richard D. James) played a new, untitled song at a concert in Europe during his tour recently. Here’s concert footage revealing the mystery track. It sounds equally ethereal as some of his earlier work, but without his classic glitchy-weirdness. Maybe he’s toning down the electro-craziness?

Sadly, I discovered that there is no mention of a new album coming out any time soon. For those who enjoy this brand of music, feel free to reminisce with this masterpiece of weirdness. It’s Come to Daddy, from his 1997 EP.

Trentemoller Releases Video for “Sycamore Feeling”

Trentemoller Releases Video for “Sycamore Feeling”

He’s #1 on my playlists these days.

Listen to the music of Anders Trentemoller, a Danish electronic musician who blurs the lines between chillout trip hop and dark, throbbing industrial production.

This is “Sycamore Feeling,” the single from his forthcoming third full-length, Into the Great Wide Yonder, which is set to be released in June by Audiomatique Records.
